Summerlin, a development of The Howard Hughes Corporation, is the best known master planned community in the Las Vegas area. Summerlin is comprised of 22,500 acres, with a planned build-out of 64,000 homes. Howard Hughes bought the land in the 1950’s for $3/acre, but he never developed the land.
Starting in 1990, this community has grown to encompass more than two dozen public and private schools, 14 houses of worship, three resort hotels, amazing retail and entertainment centers, and casinos, of course.
Summerlin is very much an outdoor community that features 150 parks, 150 miles of walking trails, nine golf courses, world-class recreational facilities, as well as hiking and rock climbing in the nearby Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, a 200,000-acre park boasting 2,000 climbing routes, and a 13-mile paved scenic loop.
Summerlin real estate is priced from $65,000 to $30,000,000.
